Media Day: Wrap, Write & Reflect!

On Line:

1. Profile: Update your profile so your contact info is accurate and your picture, quotes, etc can be used in future editions

2. Make CERTAIN that if you are using an electronic portfolio, you provide a LINK in your 180 profile

3. Clean up/Close up the Wiki: finish any discussions, add an update to any projects (what happened? How did it turn out? What did you learn? What worked? What would you do differently? What advice/warnings do you have for the next person who might attempt this?)

4. E-mail Mrs. Edwards with info she can use in the next edition. Save a copy of anything you write. Suggestions:
  • Favorite quotes from the workbook
  • Favorite activities/pages/chapters from the workbook
  • An insight/observation you gained—about yourself, about others, about the world, etc
  • A light bulb moment for you
  • A story of how you applied a concept from class to a personal relationship, personal goal, personal achievement, or a community/global experience
  • An emotional moment from the course—positive or negative
  • Descriptions of things in the workbook that did NOT work for you
  • Suggestions of movie titles, song tittles, videos, games, etc that would enhance each chapter theme
  • Comments about each section that could be used in future editions.

Off Line: Workbook Reflections
  • Take some time to really look back at what you have written/ answered/ noted

  • Compare your original responses with what you might answer today—feel free to update/make additions

  • Read and explore some of the things we didn’t have time for in class. Maybe move away from the computers and find some quiet place in the library. Make it a gift to yourself to have some private, undirected time to consider the ideas and write down some of your thoughts today. (Thanks, Jessica, for the suggestion!)

  • Look through the quotes at the back of the book. Circle/highlight/ etc any that really resonate with you.

  • Pick a time in the future: one year from now, five years, ten, etc. Write a note to future self.

  • Write a SMART goal or two for yourself. What do you want to accomplish over the summer? Before this time next year? How will you hold yourself accountable?
