Midterm Conference Schedules and FAQ's!

Q: Why this day?
A. Conference dates are assigned randomly. Please see Mrs. Brown if you have a pressing need to reschedule, otherwise dates are non-negotiable to be sure we have a balance of grades/genders/committees presenting on different days!

Q. That's not fair! Some people will have more time to prepare than others!
A. Deadlines are always difficult and sometimes you get the luck and sometimes you don't. Expectations will be adjusted for those folks who go earlier; we know you will have had one fewer class days than those who present after you.

Q. What will happen at my conference?
A. You will sit with your conference group and have a chance to present your portfolio. Each team member will read his or her introduction letter, then highlight items from the Growth and Challenges letters, as well as highlight some of your artifacts or anything else you'd like to present that shows what you have been accomplishing in 180. There will be a short period then for questions and answers

Q. My portfolio is on line! How will I present?
A. we will be in the media center so you will have access to either my laptop (wireless) or one of the LMC computers. You may also choose to use the projector. I'm totally open to suggestions-- tell me what you need/envision, and I'll do my best to make it work.

Q. What should I do while others are presenting?
A. This is an excellent time to work on your current projects or plan new ones.

Q. What happens if I'm not ready?
A. If you do not present on your scheduled day you will accept a full letter grade penalty for each day you are behind in your presentation.

Q. Can I listen while others are presenting?

A. You will each have the chance to hear others in your small group. If may also invite other classmates/friends/teachers/family/etc if you would like to have them present for your own conference. Please do not attend a portfolio conference without the permission of the presenter-- we want to keep the atmosphere intimate and comfortable for this first round of presentations!
